Editorial Policy
Effective date: August 16, 2026
This policy explains how conclusions should be developed, documented, challenged, and corrected. Replace the sample process with one your editorial team can consistently follow.
Editorial independence
Commercial relationships should not determine scores, verdicts, selection, or wording. Editors retain final authority over coverage.
Product selection
Explain whether products are purchased, borrowed, supplied, or selected from reader requests. Do not imply exhaustive coverage when the sample is limited.
Testing standards
Define the job, record conditions and duration, repeat key tasks, inspect wear, and distinguish measured facts, manufacturer claims, and reviewer judgment.
Scoring
Scores should follow a published rubric and reflect intended use. Avoid false precision and do not hide a critical limitation inside a high average.
Review samples
State who supplied the sample, whether it must be returned, and whether the reviewer may keep it.
Affiliate relationships
Affiliate revenue may support the site, but retailer availability and commission rates should not control editorial outcomes.
Corrections
Correct factual errors promptly, note material changes, and update model-year details when a product changes.
Conflicts of interest
Require contributors to disclose financial, employment, family, competitive, and other relevant relationships.
Questions
Provide a monitored method for readers and manufacturers to submit evidence or request a factual correction.
